As mothers, we are all guilty of it. We envision a photo, a perfect capture of our child playing with his favorite toy. And well……….. it never quite turns out as planned. Tuesday’s little guy had a vision of his own. Cry. Cry hard. Cry like the lady with the camera is a kidnapper.
It all started in the studio because his brother and sister were all photographed in the studio at his age. This "envisioned photo" would hang next to theirs. It makes sense. No dice. We tried the park. Not on your life. Toward the end of a typical session time, we called it a morning. I gave up. I’ve never had to "give up", but it was just not happening. Fortunately, this little cutie lives quite close to my home. So later in the afternoon (after nap that is), I stopped over. Surely in the comfort of his own front yard he’d let me snap a few photos of him playing. Ummmmmmm, not so much. More like, "MOMMY THE KIDNAPPER IS BACK!" Mom and I tried many "tricks". Even the kind neighbors came over to aid us. I can’t really say for sure what finally did the trick, but suddenly from behind his mother’s legs he smiled! Really big. Big like as if to say, "So you mean you’re not a kidnapper? You are a MOM of 4 KIDS. Okay, you’re not SO scary."
I thought I’d been outdone by a 1 year old, but in the end I was able to pull out some pretty cute photos of the little guy. It’s a session I won’t soon forget however! Now, I’ll let the photos tell the story.
Stop ONE: Studio. NO!
Stop TWO: Park. NOT ON YOUR LIFE!
"But look, Mommy brought your favorite horse to ride."
Stop THREE: His house. "MOM THE KIDNAPPER HAS ARRIVED!
Clouds part. Tears dry up. Rainbow appears.
"Is THIS what you wanted me to do Mom?"

It was early. Ava and I were up. Conveniently, so was the chocolate cake. We snacked. My camera was sitting out ready for some shoots today. I couldn’t resist.
Have an INDULGING Saturday!
