There’s a boy in our home who’s about to celebrate his 7th birthday. "Who?", you ask.  Well, here are some clues.

He’s grown a few new teeth.

He has some amazing dimples and………..

great eyelashes.

You guessed it: JALEN!

He’d like a gerbil, but his mother isn’t offering much hope for that to happen (Grandparents, DON’T get any ideas.  Animals are NOT welcome in our home at this stage in our lives.  Much like the plants we have, survival rate is slim to none).  Therefore, Jalen has settled for Heelys. That we can handle.

My blog has come in handy yet again.  Because of my little slice of world wide web, I was able to meet up with some fellow photographers in the area.  Christy found my blog, realized I lived near her, and invited me to join a few photographers that were meeting in Atlanta this past Sunday.  We had a great time talking "shop" and photographing some beautiful girls.  Here are a few pictures from the day……

……. or should I say, Ava.  Ava loves her Johnny Jump Up.  Good times just waiting to be had in that thing!

We had a scare Tuesday evening that had me shaking long after it was over.  Ellexa is playing soccer again this year.  However, in Georgia soccer is similar to breathing, everyone does it.  There are over 1,500 students that participate in the league.  It’s taken very seriously and therefore she has practice twice a week.  A practice that takes place on the same field every week; the same field she plays her games on.  Very convenient, considering the number of participants.

This Tuesday I dropped her off and watched her as she arrived to her practice field and then continued on to a swing set within the same park, for my other 3 children to play while we waited.  When practice was nearing it’s end, we all headed toward Ellexa’s field.  On the way Jaxton spotted a cart selling pop and had an extreme meltdown over the fact that he could not have a Pepsi.  I sent Jalen on to get Ellexa and gathered the flailing 2 year old into my one arm that wasn’t already being occupied by our dear but very heavy, one year old.  After some time Jalen returned only to report he couldn’t find Ellexa.  Same field every week, "How hard is it to find your sister?"  I snap. Then I attempt to find her myself only to discover he was right, no Ellexa.  Considering the no-Pepsi pit stop, we were now late picking her up, so I called the coach’s cell phone.  No answer.  Now I’m a bit worried.  I call Drew to come stay with the other kids, so I can do a more thorough job of hunting for our misplaced 8 year old.

Practice has now been over for 30 minutes, I’ve searched every field in the park and called the coach at least ten times and NOTHING! So many scary things are going through my head; I’m not even being rational.  Rationality is far gone.  40 minutes into our search, I’m talking over with Drew how I think it’s time to call the police and a call breaks in, it’s the coach, "Hey, we’ve got Ellexa here.  Where are you?"  Again more emotions flooding my brain, but mostly relief.  Apparently, I missed an email notifying the parents that practice would start at one field and then move to another park within walking distance.  Not a location I had checked.  Lots of kisses later and many tears me have our baby home safe and sound!

Okay, so he’s not a client, but rather my husband.  And, he didn’t really want me to take his picture.  However, it’s his birthday and pictures are a birthday requirement. Oh, but he is hot, sexy, handsome……. however you want to put it, I picked a winner.  He’s an amazing husband, father, and friend.  I’d pick him again in a heartbeat.

We married young.  I was 20 and he was 23.  We didn’t really know all that we were committing to, just that we were in it for a lifetime.  Four kids, and twelve years later I still think he’s the best decision I ever made.  He’s just as amazing on the inside, as he is on the outside.  For me, he’s perfect!  I love you babe!  Happy 36th!
